Paris [France], August 30: At the Paris Paralympics, Indian para shuttler Manasi Joshi's campaign in the women's singles SL3 Group A came to an end following a dramatic comeback by Ukraine's Oksana Kozyna at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena.
Manasi started strong, securing the first set 21-10, but then lost the next two sets. Oksana responded with a robust performance, winning the second set 15-21 and overcoming a three-point deficit in the decider to win 21-23, eliminating Manasi from the tournament.
Earlier on August 30, Manasi had faced Indonesia's Qontiah Ikhitar Syakuroh, winning the first game but ultimately losing in three sets (21-16, 13-21, 18-21). In another Group B match, Mandeep was defeated by Nigeria's Mariam Eniola Bolaji with scores of 8-21 and 14-21.
India's largest-ever Paralympic team, comprising 84 athletes across 12 sports, is participating in Paris 2024. The country aims to build on its success from Tokyo 2020, where it won 19 medals, including two golds, a silver, and a bronze in badminton.
