Markets remain unaffected by the Hindenburg report, trading in the green
Mumbai (Maharashtra), August 12: On Monday, the stock markets demonstrated resilience during mid-trading, effectively dismissing concerns stemming from the recent Hindenburg report.
Despite a slight dip at the opening, both the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 indices managed to recover by mid-day, moving into positive territory, reflecting strong investor confidence and market stability.
The BSE Sensex rose to 79,909 points, gaining 207 points, while the Nifty 50 increased by 56.05 points to reach 24,416 at the time of this report.
Shriram Subramanian, Founder and MD of InGovern Research Services, commented, "As expected, the impact of the Hindenburg report on the stock markets has been muted. Even Adani group stocks have shown limited impact. Most market participants are now dismissing the Hindenburg report, viewing it as a document that primarily incites political outrage rather than offering substantial analysis."
The trading day started cautiously, with the markets opening lower. The Nifty 50 index began at 24,320.05, down by 47.45 points or 0.19 per cent, while the BSE Sensex opened at 79,296.67, dropping by 409.24 points or 0.69 per cent.
However, both indices quickly rebounded from the initial decline, turning positive as the trading session progressed.
Experts highlighted that the recovery of the indices underscores the market's resilience and broader investor sentiment, which seems largely unaffected by the Hindenburg report. Even Adani Group stocks, anticipated to be the most impacted, experienced only minor fluctuations, further confirming the market's dismissal of the report.
As of the time of this report, Adani Greens had declined by 1 per cent, ACC Cements shares were down by 1.3 per cent, and Adani Power saw a decline of more than 1.5 per cent. The most significant decline in Adani stocks was in Adani Total Gas, which dropped by over 4 per cent.
Within the Nifty 50 index, 28 stocks gained while 22 declined.
