Captain Kathryn Bryce returns to lead as Scotland announces their squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup
New Delhi [India], September 2: Kathryn Bryce will return as captain for Scotland as they announced their squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Bryce last played for Scotland during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in May 2024 in the UAE. Her impressive performances, including 177 runs and nine wickets, were crucial in helping Scotland qualify for their first Women’s T20 World Cup.
Sarah Bryce has been named the vice-captain, and experienced leg-spinner Abtaha Maqsood, who recently led Scotland to victory in the Netherlands tri-series, is also part of the squad.
Scotland’s squad boasts a mix of players who can contribute with both bat and ball, and head coach Craig Wallace is optimistic about their prospects. "The composition and balance of this squad are excellent. We have match-winners throughout, which marks a significant development during my brief time with the team. Every player has delivered crucial performances, and this depth is a key asset," Wallace said.
He also mentioned that selecting the squad was challenging but rewarding, noting that every player has the potential to secure victories in the World Cup.
Scotland will compete in Group B alongside England, South Africa, West Indies, and Bangladesh.
Last year, Australia won the T20 World Cup, defeating South Africa by 19 runs to claim their sixth title.
