PM Modi Calls Vadhvan Port a "Significant Project" and Will Lay Foundation Stone Today
New Delhi [India], August 30: Ahead of his visit to Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the Vadhvan Port project as a "highly significant initiative" that will advance India's development and reinforce Maharashtra's status as a "hub of progress."
In a response on social media platform X, Modi stated, "This is a highly significant initiative that will contribute to India's growth. It will also solidify Maharashtra's crucial role as a center of progress."
Modi is scheduled to visit Maharashtra on Friday to lay the foundation stone for the Vadhvan Port project, which is estimated to cost around Rs 76,000 crores and will be located in Palghar.
A post on MyGov's social media account mentioned, "The Vadhvan Port project, which has been delayed for decades, is now back on track and expected to be operational by 2030."
The post further detailed, "The port will feature nine 1000-meter-long container terminals, multipurpose berths, liquid cargo berths, Ro-Ro berths, and a dedicated Coast Guard berth, positioning it as a leading shipping hub."
The Vadhvan Port is set to become one of India's largest deepwater ports, enhancing maritime connectivity and reinforcing India's position in global trade. With a projected operational date of 2030, the project aims to establish a state-of-the-art maritime gateway to boost trade and economic growth by accommodating large container vessels and ultra-large cargo ships.
The port is expected to create substantial employment opportunities, stimulate local business, and contribute to regional economic development. It will also incorporate sustainable development practices, focusing on minimizing environmental impact and adhering to high ecological standards.
