Washington, October 21, 2024: Former One Direction member Liam Payne passed away in Buenos Aires on October 16 after falling from the balcony of his hotel room. His father, Geoff Payne, paid tribute to his late son, as reported by People.

Geoff arrived at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires on Friday, October 18, to retrieve his son’s belongings and arrange for his repatriation to the UK. Upon his arrival, he encountered a large number of fans who had gathered to pay their final respects, expressing his gratitude toward them.

He also visited memorials established in his son’s honor, reading notes left by admirers and kissing a photograph of Liam.

Singer Liam Payne, a former member of One Direction, tragically died at the age of 31 after reportedly falling from a hotel balcony in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires on October 16.

Numerous celebrities have expressed their sorrow over his passing. Charlie Puth conveyed his condolences on Instagram, stating, "I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I cannot believe he is gone..." in his first Instagram Story.

Puth, 32, also shared a video of the two of them laughing together, adding the text, "I'm so upset right now, may he rest in peace," as reported by People.

In another Instagram story, he shared a screenshot of Payne discussing how Puth had written a song dedicated to him, writing "I am so sorry" in the caption.

Following Liam Payne's unexpected death, his family released a heartfelt statement, expressing their heartbreak.

"We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts, and we will remember him for his kind, funny, and brave soul," the family stated in a message to PA Media, the national news agency for the UK and Ireland.

"We are supporting each other as best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space during this terrible time," the statement added.

According to the preliminary autopsy report, the singer died from multiple injuries and "internal and external" hemorrhages. Coroners also confirmed that "no defensive injuries were found," supporting local officials' claims that he allegedly jumped from his hotel room balcony before his death.
