Baloch activist Maharang accuses the state of committing brutalities against peaceful protesters.
Quetta [Pakistan], August 2 Baloch activist Mahrang Baloch stated that the Pakistani government has been employing severe measures to crush the Baloch nation’s resistance and has been committing atrocities against peaceful participants of the Baloch Raaji Muchi throughout Balochistan.
Speaking at a gathering on Thursday, Mahrang Baloch highlighted that, despite the army’s violence, the resistance within the Baloch community remains resilient. She recounted the events of July 28, when the state deployed its full force to disrupt the Baloch Raaji Muchi, resulting in casualties, injuries, and arrests. The state used baton charges, tear gas, and blocked roads and communication networks across Balochistan. Nevertheless, thousands of people attended the Raaji Muchi, and even on the fifth day, they continue to protest. Mahrang Baloch emphasized that Baloch traditions do not involve submission to those in power.
In her speech, Baloch Raaji Muchi leader Dr. Mahrang Baloch clarified that the Baloch community will reject any compensation for the losses incurred during the Raaji Muchi. She asserted, "I want to make it clear that those suggesting compensation for the blood of Baloch martyrs are mistaken. The blood of our martyrs is priceless. We will not demean our martyrs by accepting compensation. Our martyrs' compensation lies in our ongoing resistance and national struggle. We will neither accept compensation for the blood of our martyrs nor allow anyone else to. The true reward for our martyrs is continued resistance, national unity, and achieving our national goals."
Mahrang Baloch also noted that injured members of the Baloch community from the Raaji Muchi caravans will not receive state-funded treatment. Instead, their care will be funded through donations collected by the Baloch people.
She concluded, "This struggle is a long and patient one, requiring dedication and strong morale. We are committed to fighting the state at every turn, and we believe that victory will ultimately be ours."
