Baloch Yakjehti Committee plans to hold another protest rally in response to the rising number of youth disappearances.
Kharan [Balochistan], October 25: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has organized a peaceful protest rally today in Kharan to advocate for the disappeared youths amid a surge in enforced disappearances by the Pakistan armed forces.
The rally is scheduled for 3 PM on Friday in the Kharan district of Balochistan.
On Thursday, Ubaidullah Tagapi, the son of Haji Barkat Tagapi, was abducted during the day by armed forces, prompting his family to plan a protest. However, they faced harassment from the Pakistani armed forces, who forcibly halted their demonstrations.
In a post on X, the BYC stated, "The state has normalized the enforced disappearance of Baloch individuals. With the increasing occurrence of enforced disappearances, the BYC has organized a series of protests across Balochistan. Tomorrow, on October 25 at 3 PM, a peaceful protest rally will be held in Kharan. We urge the people of Kharan to join this rally and raise their voices for Ubaidullah and other victims of enforced disappearance."
Additionally, another protest occurred in the Panjgur district of Balochistan, where a protestor named Haseeb Baloch disappeared at the hands of law enforcement agencies. Haseeb, a 22-year-old graduate from ARID University and a resident of Panjgur, was part of a peaceful demonstration when state authorities responded with violence and abducted some protestors.
Baloch people are protesting across various districts of Balochistan under the slogan "Breaking Silence: Standing Against Enforced Disappearances." Protests have already taken place in Karachi, Hub, Turbat, and Khuzdar.
The issue of enforced disappearances has raised serious human rights concerns in the region, instilling fear among the population. Peaceful demonstrators are being abducted by the Pakistani armed forces, violating their rights to freedom of speech and assembly. The BYC has called on the Baloch community to join the protests and stand against the state's atrocities.
