Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a high-level review meeting following the deaths caused by spurious liquor in Siwan and Saran.

 October 17, Bihar,  Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a high-level review meeting in response to the deaths caused by spurious liquor in Siwan and Saran (Chapra). Following the meeting, the CM directed the Secretary of the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department to visit the area, gather comprehensive information, and conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects of the incident, according to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office.

Meanwhile, the tragedy has sparked political controversy, with the RJD criticizing Nitish Kumar's government. Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav accused the CM and his close associates of engaging in immoral and unprincipled politics.

Taking to social media, Tejashwi Yadav posted, "Twenty-seven people have died due to poisonous liquor under government protection, and dozens have lost their eyesight. Although Bihar has a so-called liquor ban, due to the nexus between ruling party leaders, police, and the mafia, liquor is available at every corner."

He further added, "So many people have died, yet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has not even offered his condolences. Hundreds of Biharis die each day from poisonous liquor and crime, but for the Chief Minister and his inner circle, who are pioneers of immoral and unprincipled politics, this is a normal occurrence."

Tejashwi Yadav also questioned the lack of accountability, saying, "How can any senior officer be held responsible for these deaths? On the contrary, will they be rewarded? If liquor is readily available despite the ban, is this not a failure of the Home Department and the Chief Minister? Is the CM even capable of addressing such incidents, and who is responsible for these deaths?"

In response, BJP leader Nitin Nabin stated that the state government would take action against all those involved. "Action will be taken against everyone responsible for this incident. The CM has enforced a liquor ban and has taken action in similar cases. He has also acknowledged this matter," Nabin said.
