Bisleri International collaborates with the Government of Goa to improve waste management practices in Mormugao
Panjim (Goa), September 2: Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd. signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the Chairman of the Goa State Pollution Control Board, in the presence of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, at the Green Goa Summit 2024 held at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula. This agreement aims to improve plastic waste management practices in Mormugao, Vasco.
The collaboration involves key partners including the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC), and the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC). The initiative seeks to enhance waste management through educational programs, improved waste collection and recycling processes, and training for staff at Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs). SampurnEURarth Environment Solution Pvt. Ltd. will be the local waste management partner assisting in the implementation.
Mahesh K. Patil, Chairman of GSPCB, emphasized the initiative’s significance for Goa's environmental and public health. K. Ganesh, Director of Sustainability & Corporate Affairs at Bisleri International, expressed gratitude and highlighted the initiative's potential to positively impact the community and environment.
During the summit, Bisleri also introduced "Towards Responsible Use of Plastics," a manual developed with the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) aimed at educating students on sustainable plastic use.
The summit included discussions on accelerating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals and featured notable attendees such as Mahesh Patil, Dr. Ashok Khosla, Aleixo Sequeira, Mauvin Godinho, Shripad Naik, and Suresh Prabhu.
