BRS criticizes the Telangana government for the "demolition of poor people's homes" in Mahabubnagar
Hyderabad, August 29: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has condemned Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his government for allegedly demolishing the homes of 75 impoverished families in Mahabubnagar district.
The BRS asserted that municipal authorities conducted the demolitions in the early hours of the morning without any prior notice, causing significant distress to the affected families, many of whom had children.
In a social media post, the BRS claimed, "Bulldozer rule in Telangana. Revanth Sarkar is demolishing the homes of the poor. In Palamuru, municipal authorities carried out Hydra-style demolitions. They demolished the houses of 75 poor people in Adarsha Nagar near Christian Palli in Mahbub Nagar District Center around two o'clock in the night without any warning. Bulldozers arrived suddenly between two and three in the morning and tore down the walls while the families were asleep."
The party also alleged that officials had previously begun demolishing illegal structures without following government directives.
"Officials, accompanied by police, demolished the houses without adhering to government instructions. These demolitions, occurring in the early morning hours, have led to children being kept awake and families in distress. The victims are questioning why they are being targeted while those who have encroached on government land remain unaffected," the BRS added.
Additionally, Krishank Manne, the BRS spokesperson, lodged a complaint with the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in New Delhi on August 20, raising concerns about a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Swachh Bio and the Telangana government. The MoU, announced by Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy on August 6, 2024, involves an investment of Rs1000 crore.
