Congress President Kharge has urged voters to participate in the polling, stating that their single vote will guide Haryana toward prosperity and social justice.

New Delhi [India], October 5: As voting continues for the 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge appealed to the state's voters on Saturday to cast their ballots, asserting that a single vote can once again set Haryana on the path to progress.

In a post on X, Congress Chief Kharge stated, "Voting is underway today in the Haryana Assembly elections. I urge everyone in Haryana, including all 36 communities, to make sure they vote. Your one vote will lead Haryana towards prosperity and social justice."

He criticized the last ten years of governance, claiming that the state's development has been "ruined" by a "greed for power." 

"Before you cast your vote on the EVM, remember that over the past decade, Haryana has faced issues like unemployment, inflation, corruption, paper leaks, the poor condition of villages and cities, identity card fraud, women's insecurity, social discrimination, and economic inequality. The greed for power has devastated Haryana's development," he wrote in his post.

Kharge also referred to the removal of the BJP-led NDA government at the center, stating that the sound of pressing the EVM button should resonate all the way to Delhi for "complete change" to occur.

"Your vote today can end all this. Haryana will once again begin its journey toward progress. If we want to change Haryana's future, the sound of pressing the EVM button should be heard in Delhi for a complete transformation," he added in his post.

He urged the youth, especially those voting for the first time, to participate in this democratic celebration.

Voting in Haryana will take place from 7 AM to 6 PM. A total of 1,031 candidates are contesting in all 90 Assembly constituencies, with 20,632 polling booths established for voters. The results for the Haryana Assembly elections will be announced alongside those of Jammu and Kashmir on October 8.

The main competing parties in Haryana include the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the pre-poll alliance of Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and Jannayak Janta Party-Azad Samaj Party (JJP-ASP).

According to Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer, Pankaj Agarwal, there are 2,03,54,350 eligible voters, including 1,07,75,957 males, 95,77,926 females, and 467 voters from the third gender, participating in the Assembly Elections on October 5. The state has set up 20,632 polling booths for the election.

Agarwal also noted that 29,462 police personnel, 21,196 home guards, and 10,403 Special Police Officers (SPO) have been deployed across the state to ensure strict surveillance, allowing citizens to vote without fear.

The JJP-ASP alliance is contesting all 90 Assembly constituencies, with the JJP fielding candidates in 70 seats and the ASP in 20.

In the 2019 Assembly elections, the BJP won 40 of the 90 seats, forming a coalition government with the JJP, which secured 10 seats. The Congress won 31 seats but later lost the coalition with the JJP.
