Delhi Premier League T20: Purani Dilli 6 bounce back in style after two consecutive losses, defeating West Delhi Lions
New Delhi [India], August 22 : After suffering two consecutive losses, Purani Dilli 6 made a strong comeback by defeating West Delhi Lions by seven wickets in their third match of the Adani Delhi Premier League T20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.
Laxman's impressive figures of 3/41, along with Aayush Singh Thakur's 2/27, helped Purani Dilli 6 limit West Delhi Lions to 141/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Arpit Rana played a key role in the chase, scoring an unbeaten 56 off 43 balls, guiding Purani Dilli 6 to victory in 17.1 overs.
Purani Dilli 6 started their chase of 142 runs with an aggressive approach. Rana led the charge with fluent strokes, supported by Manjeet. The duo maintained a scoring rate of over 10 runs per over until Manjeet was dismissed in the fourth over. By the end of the powerplay, Purani Dilli 6 were comfortably placed at 56/1.
Despite losing two quick wickets—Sanat Sangwan (22 off 25) and Lalit Yadav (7 off 9)—Rana remained steady, reaching his fifty in 42 balls by the 16th over. With just 16 runs needed from 24 balls, Rana, along with Vansh Bedi, who scored an unbeaten 30 off 18, ensured a smooth chase, leading Purani Dilli 6 to a clinical seven-wicket win.
Purani Dilli 6, having lost their first two matches, opted to bowl first after winning the toss. West Delhi Lions struggled early, losing Ankit Kumar for a duck in the first over, followed by Anmol Sharma's dismissal for one run in the next over. The situation worsened when Aryan Dalal was run out, leaving West Delhi Lions reeling at 7/3 within 2.2 overs.
Shivam Gupta (13 off 20) and Hrithik Shokeen attempted to stabilize the innings with a 27-run partnership, but Gupta was dismissed by Laxman in the eighth over.
Captain Hrithik Shokeen kept the scoreboard moving, forming a valuable 31-run partnership with Dev Lakra. Hrithik contributed 28 runs off 32 balls, including three boundaries, before being dismissed in the 12th over.
Ekansh Dobal continued his fine form, scoring 34 off just 14 balls, while Lakra added 26 from 24 balls, helping West Delhi Lions reach 141/9. Tishant Dabla provided a late boost with 23 runs off 9 balls, including three sixes.
For Purani Dilli 6, Laxman was the standout bowler with 3/41 from his three overs. Lalit Yadav, Aayush Singh Thakur, Shivam Sharma, and Prince each took one wicket.
