During the Voice of Global South Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the DPI's role in promoting inclusive development
New Delhi [India], August 17 : On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the transformative impact of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) on inclusive development, calling it a revolutionary advancement.
Speaking at the inaugural leaders' session of the Voice of Global South Summit 3.0, PM Modi remarked, "The role of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in fostering inclusive growth is akin to a revolution."
He highlighted the establishment of the Global DPI Repository under India's G-20 presidency as a landmark achievement, marking the first multilateral consensus on DPI.
"We are pleased to have reached agreements with 12 Global South partners to share the 'India Stack'," PM Modi noted.
He also announced that India has set up a 'Social Impact Fund,' with an initial contribution of USD 25 million.
PM Modi stressed the importance of unity among Global South nations, advocating for shared learning, capability exchange, and collaborative efforts to achieve common objectives.
He reiterated India's dedication to promoting mutual trade, inclusive development, and women-led progress, alongside advancing sustainable development goals (SDGs).
During his address, PM Modi underscored the significance of infrastructure, digital, and energy connectivity in enhancing cooperation, citing initiatives like Mission LiFE, which focuses on renewable energy both in India and with partner nations.
He also highlighted India's contributions to financial inclusion through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
The Prime Minister mentioned notable advancements in education, capacity building, and skilling through the Global South Excellence Centre and other projects. He reaffirmed India's commitment to global health security, referencing initiatives such as Arogya Maitri's vision.
PM Modi called for a unified and proactive approach to ensure the Global South's voices and aspirations are well-represented in global discussions.
Reflecting on India's G-20 presidency, he noted that in 2022, India aimed to reshape the organization, including the inclusion of the African Union.
"The Voice of Global South Summit has provided a platform for open discussions on development-related challenges and priorities," PM Modi stated.
India is hosting the 3rd Voice of Global South Summit on August 17, 2024, aiming to unite Global South countries to share their perspectives and priorities on various issues.
