East Bengal FC announces the departure of head coach Carles Cuadrat.
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 30: Following a series of disappointing performances, East Bengal FC announced the departure of head coach Carles Cuadrat on Monday.
The Kolkata-based club has struggled with their performance in recent months. In the current season of the Indian Super League (ISL), East Bengal has played three matches without securing their first win of the 2024-2025 season.
Currently, the Red and Golds sit in 12th place in the ISL standings and have yet to earn any points this season.
Through their official X account, East Bengal FC confirmed Cuadrat's resignation and noted that he had helped the team win the Kalinga Super Cup earlier this year.
The club also extended their best wishes to Cuadrat for his future endeavors and announced that Bino George would take over as the interim head coach.
"#EastBengalFC regretfully announces the departure of Carles Cuadrat as Head Coach following his resignation. Coach Carles led us to the Kalinga Super Cup title earlier this year and a runners-up finish in last year's Durand Cup. We thank him for his contributions and wish him the best for the future. Bino George will be the interim Head Coach of the team. We'll make further announcements in due course," East Bengal FC stated on X.
In their last ISL match, East Bengal FC suffered a disappointing 3-2 loss to FC Goa at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. Borja Herrera's hat trick secured FC Goa their first win of the ongoing ISL season.
One of Cuadrat's key achievements at the Kolkata club was ending their 12-year trophy drought by leading them to victory in the Kalinga Super Cup earlier this year.
