J-K: Railways conduct trial run on world's highest Chenab rail bridge

Reasi (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 20 : Indian Rail routes on Thursday directed a fruitful preliminary attempt on the recently developed Chenab Rail Scaffold, the world's most elevated rail route span.

The scaffold is worked between Sangaldan in Ramban locale and Reasi. Rail administrations on the line will begin soon, authorities said.

Serve for Railroads, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said in a post on X , "Effective preliminary attempt of MEMU train between Sangaldan - Reasi segment of USBRL project. Jammu and Kashmir".

As of now, the trains work along the railroad line from Kanyakumari to Katra, while administrations run from Baramulla to Sangaldan in the Kashmir Valley.

The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Connection (USBRL) task will be finished by year-end.

The USBRL project, including the 48.1 km long Banihal-Sangaldan segment, was initiated by State head Narendra Modi on February 20, 2024.

Stage I of the venture, covering the 118 km long Qazigund-Baramulla segment, was introduced in October 2009. Ensuing stages saw the initiation of the 18 km long Banihal-Qazigund segment in June 2013 and the 25 km long Udhampur-Katra area in July 2014.

The Chenab Rail Scaffold, built 359 meters (around 109 feet) over the Chenab Waterway in the Jammu and Kashmir area, is approximately 35 meters taller than the Eiffel Pinnacle.

The 1,315 meter-long extension is essential for a more extensive venture which intends to make the Kashmir valley open by the Indian Railroad organization.
