Jammu: A soldier was injured when terrorists opened fire at the Sunjwan military station

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 2: A soldier from the Indian Army was injured on Monday when terrorists opened fire at the Sunjwan military station in Jammu, according to officials.

Defence officials stated that the terrorists fired from a distance outside the base.

Earlier, on Thursday, the Indian Army successfully eliminated three terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machhal and Tangdhar sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Credible intelligence inputs, corroborated by J-K Police, indicated likely infiltration attempts from these areas. Based on this information, troops from the Indian Army, JKP, and BSF set up ambushes along probable infiltration routes in both the Machhal and Tangdhar sectors," according to an official release.

Suspicious movement was detected on the evening of August 28, leading to an exchange of fire that continued until the morning of August 29.

This marks the 6th operation in Kupwara district this year, resulting in the elimination of 10 terrorists, including foreign infiltrators.
