Kirsten Dunst and Channing Tatum are joining forces for the true crime film 'Roofman.'

Washington, October 1: In an exciting announcement for film fans, Kirsten Dunst will star alongside Channing Tatum in the upcoming true crime film 'Roofman,' directed by Derek Cianfrance.

Fresh from her critically acclaimed performance in A24's 'Civil War,' Dunst is set to take on a compelling narrative based on the bold activities of Jeffrey Manchester, known as the "Rooftop Robber," as reported by Deadline.

Manchester was a notorious figure who burglarized nearly 60 McDonald's locations by accessing their roofs. Once inside, he would gather the staff and confine them in freezers while he looted the cash registers.

Described as an eccentric and charming character, he managed to execute these heists without using violence, which makes his story both intriguing and unsettling, according to Deadline.

In a turn of events, Manchester was convicted in 2000 but made a daring escape, avoiding capture by hiding in a 'Toys 'R Us' and a 'Circuit City' store in North Carolina. He survived on baby food and kept fit by riding bicycles in the toy store, remaining undetected until he accidentally left his fingerprints on a 'Catch Me If You Can' DVD.

This mistake ultimately led to his recapture and return to prison, as noted by Deadline.

In the film, Dunst will portray a Toys 'R Us employee struggling financially while raising her two daughters, Dee and Lindsay. Unbeknownst to her, Jeffrey has been watching her from within the store and has developed feelings for her.

Their paths intersect, and what starts as a charming connection evolves into a complex relationship that endures even after she learns of his criminal history.

According to Deadline, the film's script is co-written by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn, with production led by Dylan Sellers and Chris Parker through their Limelight banner, alongside Cianfrance's longtime collaborators Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell Taylor.
