Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a review meeting focused on the region's security and emphasized the need to dismantle the terror ecosystem.
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), October 23: Following the recent terror attack in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha instructed the police on Wednesday to enhance security measures around key infrastructure projects and construction sites in the union territory.
The LG convened a review meeting in Srinagar at Raj Bhavan to assess the security situation in the Kashmir Division.
He further ordered a security audit of infrastructure projects, the establishment of round-the-clock checkpoints at strategic locations, increased night patrols, and greater area control.
"The police must ensure a robust security and intelligence network, along with intensified and well-planned joint operations with the army and other security agencies to eliminate terrorism," Sinha stated.
Attendees of the meeting included Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary of the Home Department Chandraker Bharti, Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police CID Nitish Kumar, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Dr. Mandeep Bhandari, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, and other senior officials from J&K Police.
These directives follow a horrific terror attack in Gagangir, Ganderbal district, which resulted in the deaths of a doctor, a designer, and five construction workers.
LG Sinha announced that Rs 6 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each civilian victim. Additionally, APCO Infratech will provide Rs 15 lakh as an immediate relief measure, along with Rs 2 lakh in ex-gratia to all the injured.
On October 22, he visited Ganganir to meet with officials and workers from the Project Implementing Agency and review security measures at the site, according to a statement from the police, civil administration, and other security agencies.
During his visit, he also chaired another meeting with various officers from the police, civil administration, and different security agencies.
He called for strict action against those responsible for terrorism and anyone who aids them.
"The entire terror ecosystem, including the perpetrators and those supporting terrorists, must be completely dismantled," LG Sinha emphasized.
