Mumbai Police reports that Zeeshan, the son of Baba Siddique, was also a target of the killers.
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 14: The suspects involved in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique have disclosed that his son, Zeeshan Siddique, was also a target of the shooters.
According to Mumbai Police, the accused were hired to eliminate both Zeeshan and Baba Siddique. During interrogation, they admitted that both were on their target list and were instructed to shoot anyone they encountered. Zeeshan Siddique had received threats in the days leading up to the incident.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested Pravin Lonkar from Pune in connection with Baba Siddique's murder case.
Pravin is the brother of Shubuu Lonkar, who had posted on social media that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder. Shubuu Lonkar is currently on the run.
Police revealed that Pravin Lonkar provided shelter to both arrested suspects in Pune. Additionally, the ossification test of Dharmaraj Kashyap, another accused in the case, confirmed that he is not a minor, as per the Mumbai Police's statement on Monday.
Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra Minister and NCP leader, was shot outside his office in Nirmal Nagar, sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai but succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night. His last rites were conducted with full state honors at Bada Qabrastan in Mumbai on Sunday.
Addressing the law and order situation in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described the murder of Baba Siddique as tragic. He noted that two suspects, one from UP and another from Haryana, have been apprehended by Mumbai Police.
Shinde emphasized that those responsible will face severe consequences, regardless of whether they belong to the Bishnoi gang or any other underworld group. He assured that the safety of individuals receiving threats will be a priority for the state government.
