Rishabh Pant has surpassed Virat Kohli in the latest ICC men's Test batter rankings.

Dubai [UAE], October 23: Rishabh Pant has surpassed India's veteran Virat Kohli in the latest ICC Men's Test Batter Rankings following his successful return to red-ball cricket.

The rankings saw several changes after four cricketing giants faced off in thrilling matches last week. During India’s opening Test defeat against New Zealand, Pant scored 20 and 99 in just his third Test match after recovering from a life-threatening car accident. His impressive performance allowed him to move up three places, overtaking Kohli and securing the sixth position in the latest Test batter rankings.

England's Joe Root continues to hold a significant lead at the top of the rankings. Alongside him, Yashasvi Jaiswal (fourth), Pant (sixth), and Kohli (tied for eighth) are the only Indian players in the top 10 of this closely contested category.

Ben Duckett from England is now close to breaking into the top 10, having moved up three places to equal 11th on the list for Test batters, largely due to his 114 against Pakistan. 

Pakistan's Salman Agha climbed eight places to reach 14th with a career-high rating after scoring 31 and 63 in the same match in Multan. The 30-year-old has achieved 50-plus scores in three of his last four Test innings, making him the highest-rated Test batter from Pakistan, surpassing teammates Babar Azam (tied for 19th), Mohammad Rizwan (21st), and Saud Shakeel (27th).

New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra jumped 36 places to 18th, while Devon Conway moved up 12 spots to 36th in the latest Test batter rankings.

In terms of bowlers, New Zealand's Matt Henry was a significant mover, reaching the ninth spot with a career-high rating after taking eight wickets in the Kiwis' historic eight-wicket win over India in Bengaluru. His teammate Will O'Rourke also improved, moving up two places to 39th.

Pakistan's veteran spinner Noman Ali secured the 17th spot among Test bowlers after taking 11 wickets in two innings against England in the second Test. His teammate Sajid Khan climbed 22 places to 50th after being named Player of the Match in the same game.

In limited-overs cricket, there was movement as well. Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka rose to eighth, while Kusal Mendis climbed to 12th in the latest T20I batter rankings. Sri Lanka's top spinner, Maheesh Theekshana, moved up two places to third on the updated T20I bowler list.

Wanindu Hasaranga also showed progress, rising one place to sixth in both the T20I rankings for bowlers and all-rounders following a performance of 2/24 in the final match of the three-game series against the West Indies in Dambulla. Additionally, Hasaranga climbed two places to 18th among ODI bowlers after taking two wickets in the first ODI against the West Indies, while Charith Asalanka moved up to 12th among ODI batters.
