Under the initiative "Ek Rakhi Desh Ke Jawana Ke Naam," 53,000 Anganwadi workers from Gujarat will send Rakhi to soldiers.
Gandhinagar (Gujarat), August 17 : In a special initiative for Raksha Bandhan, Anganwadi workers across Gujarat will send over 1 lakh Rakhis to soldiers stationed at the border under the "Ek Rakhi Desh Ke Jawana Ke Naam" campaign.Â
The campaign was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Women and Child Welfare Minister Bhanuben Babaria, who presented Raksha Kalash to Lt. Col. Rakesh Kumar and Sub-Major Santosh Kamte of the 16 Maratha Light Infantry. These Rakhis will be delivered to soldiers serving at the borders.
This initiative aims to connect soldiers with their families and show gratitude for their service in challenging conditions. It reflects the solidarity and affection of Gujarat's Anganwadi workers towards the nation's defenders.
Chief Minister Patel praised the effort, noting that the soldiers celebrate festivals away from their families under harsh conditions. He commended the Anganwadi workers for their touching gesture of sending Rakhis, which will convey the love of Gujarat’s sisters to the soldiers.
Previously, in Akhnoor district, Jammu and Kashmir, schoolgirls also celebrated Raksha Bandhan by tying Rakhis to army personnel, applying Tilak, and offering sweets.
Raksha Bandhan, or Rakhi, will be celebrated on Monday, August 19 this year. The festival celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters, with sisters tying Rakhis on their brothers' wrists and brothers giving gifts in return.
