Uttarakhand: CM Dhami participates in 'Swachhta Apnao, Bimari Bhagao' program under special cleanliness campaign
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], August 14 : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in the 'Swachhta Apnao, Bimari Bhagao' program as part of a special cleanliness campaign at Gandhi Park, Dehradun on Wednesday.
During the event, CM Dhami promoted cleanliness by participating in sweeping activities. He also launched cleanliness vehicles (litre drinking cleaning machines) for 13 districts through the Panchayati Raj Department. In addition, he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by cleaning his statue and administered a cleanliness oath to all attendees.
CM Dhami emphasized that the Swachhta Abhiyan can be effectively carried out only through collective effort. He urged everyone to fully engage in the Swachhta Mission and fulfill their social responsibilities, highlighting that maintaining cleanliness in cities is a shared duty.
He praised Paryavaran Mitras for their dedicated efforts in disease prevention during the monsoon season. A special cleanliness campaign is running in the state from August 12 to 15, with public awareness activities in Dehradun supported by various social organizations, youth groups, and NGOs.
Commending the Baini Sena for their cleanliness awareness efforts in Haldwani, CM Dhami noted that cleanliness is deeply rooted in Indian culture and civilization, as highlighted in the Vedas and Puranas. He stressed that where there is cleanliness, divine presence is believed to reside.
CM Dhami acknowledged the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has evolved into a widespread movement. He assured that the state government is actively working on cleanliness initiatives in both urban and rural areas through various schemes.
He also underscored the link between cleanliness and environmental protection, advocating for technological advancements to enhance cleanliness. Plans are underway to introduce QR codes for monitoring cleanliness.
Finally, CM Dhami encouraged participation in the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign for environmental protection, urging everyone to plant trees as part of this initiative.
